I grew up on a farm in the small town of Bagdad, Kentucky. I moved to Lexington in 1986, and have been married to my amazing spouse, Diana, since 2014. I have a son and daughter-in-law who have three beautiful children of their own. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, boating and home improvement projects. I hope you will support me as I seek to continue the role of Fayette County Clerk.
Susan worked for more than 27 years with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and was elected as the Urban County Council representative for the 4th District for four terms – eight years. She was appointed Fayette County Clerk on February 1, 2023 and is honored to be the first female to hold this office. She is a collaborative community leader with a proven record for working inclusively with everyone. Susan was appointed by Judge Executive Mary Diane Hanna to fill the remainder of the term vacated when long-time Clerk Don Blevins, Jr stepped down in January. Judge Hanna chose Susan because of her reputation for service and dedication to Lexington and Fayette County. Susan strives to act with the utmost integrity and honesty, always following the letter and spirit of the law. She takes responsibility for her actions and considers the effects on others and strives to create a positive and sustainable economic and social environment. She understands the importance of complex interactions to build bridges which are integral to fostering a strong community.
